Golden Event 2022 Season Kick-off with Dolly

This year at Dollywood, there are special Golden Events for gold and diamond pass holders. Today, Dolly came to the park to kick off the season with a media event. 

Diamond and gold pass holders had to register to attend the event, and it filled up quickly. Once we arrived at the event, we were given pink butterflies and pom poms. The diamond pass holders were given front/center seating in the Celebrity Theater, while gold pass holders were filling the other seats. 



After a warm-up performance by one of the park bands, the lady of the hour came onto stage to thunderous applause and cheers. 

Dolly welcomed everyone and then shared news about her new novel with James Patterson called Run, Rose, Run. An album was also released, and a movie is in the making. She is also hoping to film a movie at Dollywood later in the year. This announcement caused quite a stir through the audience. 


In park news, the Gazillion Bubble Show will be returning this summer. Aurora and Dolly demonstrated a little of what the show will look like, with Aurora attempting to put Dolly in a bubble. 

Other seasonal events and activities were mentioned as well. There seems to be a lot of new and different things coming this year, along with some familiar favorites. 


The audience viewed a promotional video outlining the details of the new HeartSong Lodge and Resort, opening in 2023. Information was also given about the new Suite 1986 accommodations at the Dreammore, where guests can stay in a tour bus used by Dolly recently. 

Dolly came back on stage and gave the audience a treat we had all been hoping for. She sang for u!! She performed one of her new songs from the Run, Rose, Run album called "Big Dreams and Faded Jeans." 

After the media event we headed out to enjoy the park before leaving to head out of town for vacation. Before leaving we shared some laughs with our favorite Chicken Lady Miss Lillian while enjoying some amazing cinnamon bread. 


This was by far our best birthday gift ever - getting to see Dolly up close and in person, hear Dolly sing a song, have cinnamon bread for breakfast, and laugh along with Miss Lilian's songs and antics. It was an amazing beginning of our Spring Break. 




Dolly did a parade through the park after we left. A friend sent us some photos from the parade. Next time we are going to make sure to stay and see her parade by us.

Dollywood's new Imagination Playhouse Character Breakfast

This morning we headed to Dollywood for the first ever Imagination Playhouse Character Breakfast. We were a bit concerned because it was also Sevier County Days and the first day of the Summer Celebration, so we parked in preferred parking.  None of the security officers or the ticket turnstile workers knew anything about the breakfast. It caused some frustration for everyone - guests and workers alike. So, I sought out the answers to make sure if you go to the breakfast, you know what to expect and can have a smoother entrance.  Because the breakfasts are scheduled at 9 AM on Saturdays, they coincide with Early Ride Time for Gold & Diamond Passholders. NO ONE is able to enter the park until exactly 9:00 AM (after the national anthem). Birthday Bliss

My 10 year old wanted her birthday to be special this year, after having been canceled for 2 years in a row due to the pandemic. She asked if we could postpone her celebration two months this year so she could celebrate at one of her favorite places - Splash Country. I did a little research, and as soon as the reservations for retreats and canopies opened for the season, I booked a deluxe retreat with a birthday party package.  A deluxe retreat at Splash Country is an absolute gem. You have a covered shelter with a tv, mini fridge, sofa, loveseat, coffee table, bar with 4 barstools overlooking the lazy river, ceiling fans, and a patio area with 4 lounge chairs. For a birthday party, they add some streamers, a birthday banner, a table top birthday sign, and they leave a Splash Country towel, drawstring bag and signed card for the birthday guest of honor.
